Places in France : Jardin d'Acclimatation

My neighbourhood has quite a large offering of the restaurants and parks to venture to. A trip worth making is to  Jardin d'Acclimatation at Metro: Les Sablons.
It is park with sprawling gardens and amusement park rides. Highly entertaining for kids. It is near Bois de Boulogne so draws all sorts, from the joggers, sun-worshippers and those simply strolling along. There is an entrance fee and extra charge for the amusement rides. The sprawling gardens are ideal for picnics in the warmer seasons, the numerous rides make it ideal for all ages, and there's the shuttle service of  Le Petit Train that goes from the Jardin to Porte Maillot and back again. My kids love it, and the proximity to our apartment is even more thrilling for them. My son's plea after every visit is "Mommy, can we come here every day?" Don't think so, but it's good to know that on those days when we have nothing else to do, there's an option within walking distance.
An added plus for me is the mini Angelina's within the park. For the grander experience nearby, there is another one right at Palais de Congrès de Paris .
There are other options for sit-down meals and kiosks selling everything from hotdogs and churros, to ice-creams and cotton candy. Basically, the usual fairground fare.
Yesterday- it being a half-day at school, the perfect spring day, and just because we could - we ventured there again. It was well worth it. While my kids exhausted themselves running here and there to every ride, I had my eye stuck behind the lens and realised that it's not all ducks and ponds.  Pictures here.

Angelina's,  for the chocolate fiend.

The birdlife...

Of course, a carousel.

Transport to and from Porte Maillot.

The Korean garden...

...and the bridges.

Rapunzel's castle?

  1. Oh! Look! You took a photo of koinobori!

Sorry, but I just have to start with a Japanese reference! ^^ Koinobori (carp banners) are flown in Japan on Children's Day on 5 May.

What a great park: African elephants, Asian dragons, Japanese banners, chocolate ... I think I'm jealous! ^^

  2. I thought they were perfect for the entire park scene- was going to call them fish banners, but that didn't sound right(lol)...koinobori sounds much better. It's an amazing park though.
