Wine pairing at the Brasserie Les 110 de Taillevent

On a random walkabout on Sunday, my husband and I, sans les infants, decided to detour for lunch to one of our favourite places, the brasserie of Les 110 de Taillevent.  Note: The restaurant of Les 110 is on rue Lamennais and serves more haute cuisine, with an ambiance more suitable for a more formal dining experience. The brasserie worked well on our casual detour for Sunday lunch.

The 110 is the number of wines they have available on their menu - all for your pleasure. Theirs is an ingenious way of selling their products, their truly sublime food and their many and varied wines.
I enjoy going to restaurants that pair their food with wine, but it can be extremely overwhelming for an amateur wine lover when faced with too wide a variety. Les 110's concept makes the wine pairing experience a truly affordable and enjoyable experience.

Les 110 de Taillevent has an extensive food menu of everything from grilled calamari to a ravioli that comes floating in a savoury broth for starters. The mains have fish, meat and duck - all coming with four recommendations of wine, ranging from the less than 10€ price range, to the less than 16€; the less than 26€ to prices higher than 26€  for the true aficionados or big spenders. It is a very wide choice, and this is done for every single entrée, main, cheese and dessert on the menu.

We started with their grilled calamari done with chataîgne mushrooms on a bed of spinach, then moved on to an entrecôte de boeuf, and a t-bone of veal. We shared their delightful tiramisu - which itself is an experience to witness.  It comes in the shape of a chocolate sphere, the waiter then pours hot chocolate sauce on it which disintegrates the sphere leaving one with a delightful, gooey mess of chocolate and tiramisu within. The highlight of the meal.
Coffee rounded off our meal and we continued with our Sunday walk.

Note: There is a voiturier on site.

As is typical of some really great restaurants in Paris, unless you know where you're going - only the mat at the door lets you know where you are.

The cave of Les 110 is across the street from the brasserie, making it easy to stock up on the wines enjoyed.
