Finding Wanderlust at the Cité de la Mode et du Design

When Wanderlust - that is the venue - opened in Paris two years ago, a friend was quick to let me know that: "They've taken your blog name!" Not quite, but my photoblog Wanderlust in PARIS is very similar to Wanderlust's site name: Wanderlust Paris, so a lot of traffic gets directed to that blog. Good for me I suppose, not so much if you're searching for the hippest, coolest place to dance the night away in Paris and you land on a photoblog.

As part of the urban regeneration of the City of Paris, some of the areas, such as les berges de Seine, and the canal banks of the 13th arrondissement have seen some life breathed into them.
One wouldn't necessarily venture to Les Docks of Austerlitz unless they were catching a train from there - but surprisingly a lot of people are now making that trek, to the very fashionable quai d'Austerlitz, which hosts amongst others Wanderlust, M.O.B, NUBA and Le Moon Roof.
Musée Art Luddique, which is currently running its Marvel Super Heros exhibition, "L'Art des Super-Héros Marvel" until  the 31st August is also here. If you're not there for the food, then there are the decor stores to browse around in.

We went yesterday afternoon, figuring we should try someplace new and given that it was the day before the Paris Marathon, it probably would not have been that easy to go to our usual places without reservations.
It was surprisingly quite and looked quite barren. Yes granted we were there early, for lunch versus sundowners, but I couldn't help noticing that the staff was just getting seating ready in most of the places just as the queues were forming. After a failed attempt to get a table on the terrace at NUBA, and not wanting to be inside on what was a spectacularly sunny day in Paris, we went to Le Moon Bar. Lunch was fairly simple - burgers and a lamb joint, with a chilled bottle of rosé. I cannot believe we are corking open the rosé bottles again, love this season.

I can see how Les Docks can be a great place for sundowners - J. and I have made it a point to return in the summer for just that - what with the wide open views of the Seine and the decked 1600sqm terrace populated by the über cool.
