Mexican on Parisian streets

Candelaria was one other place that was on my list of places to visit while in Paris. I constantly trawl Hip Paris Blog to get the latest on what's new and exciting in the city. Makes for a change from the usual - did not feel like having brasserie food another night.
I trudged the streets of the 3rd with a friend determined to find this place. We literally walked past it - it is one of those places that does not have a sign at the door - and you have to know where you're going. Getting to it feels very clandestine.

Inside - the section where you can partake in delicious guacomole, tacos and tostadas, is tiny. A counter, behind which the food is prepared while you watch, one table only that seats around five and bar stools at the counter, for another five or so. You literally have to squeeze in to place your order and just 'hang around by the counter'.
The back is were the lounge is, here you can order your margueritas, mojitos and a whole variety of other cocktails, including Mexican beer. Again, not the biggest floor space; but it was...cosy.
One of the patrons asked the waiter about the tapas and was quickly told that, "No, Candelaria does not serve tapas - tapas is Spanish, Candelaria is Mexican". Well, there you have it - if it's Mexican you have a taste for, venture to the Marais district and try Candelaria.
