Places & Gastronomy in Ghana: Art Deco Furniture at The Orangery

First you view the exquisite art deco furniture in Art Deco, located in Adabraka, then you sit out on the patio and enjoy your crepes. The Orangery bills itself as a creperie; and crepes were the order of the day when we visited.
It was suggested by a friend who had been there once and could not stop raving about the crepes served there.
The furniture at Art Deco is exquisite, and is indeed art deco furniture - minimalistic clear lines and more importantly locally made. This is one of the better, if not best furniture stores in Accra but it's like a well-kept secret. Why I don't know, because it has truly beautiful furniture!
The shop has apparently been around for close to ten years, and it could be that the target market is and has always been for foreigners - it is pricey granted, but it is also genuinely good furniture.
The crepes are served as savoury or sweet. I had a crab-meat filled one, which was good, if a bit too spicy - the pepper overwhelmed the crab meat. My partner had the salmon and cream which was delicious. Both were served with a very small salad; which had a really good dressing.
We ordered the sweet options; plain with ice-cream - not really my thing, I am a firm believer that ice-cream should be served on its own and never, ever accompanied by something hot, or you end up with a gooey mess that looks unpalatable -  the chocolate was not bad but the the best of the three was the one with a ginger sauce; well worth the trip out there. They were served on really small plates so looked a bit squashed when presented. There is a formal private dining-room for formal functions and bigger parties but we sat out on the front overlooking the road. It could use a fresh coat of paint and a bit of change to the tablecloths - they looked a bit faded, but don't be put off by this; the crepes are worth it. Extensive menu, but the place bills itself as a creperie and crepes were what I went for. The service was quick - but then we were only three people there.
Order the lime juice, refreshing and tangy - perfect for our hot Accra days.
