Gastronomy in SA: Tsunami Seafood Emporium

The lunch was pre-arranged a month ago...a reunion with former colleagues. We chose Tsunami Seafood Emporium in Morningside; a restaurant that first opened in 2005 after the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004.

It opened after the horrific incident whilst the papers were reporting on  the incident on a daily basis. I remember people calling into radio stations and writing letter to the The Star editor expressing the lack of taste in the owner trying to capitalise on such a horrific event. The restaurant owner however stuck to his guns and the restaurant went ahead and opened the first restaurant in Rosebank and now there is the one in Morningside, Sandton.
Their speciality is seafood and it was as good as I remembered it. Grilled calamari, prawns and sushi were the order of the day for us, with a well-chilled bottle of wine - rounded off with great coffee. We ate, talked and caught up; and promised to repeat it again before I left.
