A meal with a view at La Darsena, Tremezzo

We walked in without reservations, and were fortunate enough to beat the lunch time crowd. Minutes after we were seated, the restaurant had filled up. Without reservations, lunch on the terrace was a far-fetched dream. It's no wonder, the view from the restaurant's terrace is stunning. It felt like another world as residents (or perhaps tourists with rented boats) drove up with their boats, moored them below the restaurant and came upstairs for lunch.

Again, this was not a disappointing outing for a meal. I love Italy; such good food, fruity wines and the perfect excuse to indulge in carbs everyday.
We shared a beef carpaccio, drizzled with olive olive oil, and shavings of truffles and parmesan cheese. The fried prawns, also a starter to share, disappeared before my eyes. The drive had clearly worked up our appetites. I had the creamy risotto. Yum. The cannelloni filled with salted fish in a basil pesto was equally good. We finished off our meal with gelato (only in Italy can I say this repeatedly without sounding obnoxious),  millefeuille and the re-defined tiramisu -which was probably the best I have tasted. They had skipped the liquer-soaked wafers and instead crumbled chocolate biscuits into the mascarpone. The ice cream on top was coffee flavoured. It was perfect. The millefeuille with wild berries was good, but not nearly as great as the tiramisu. We sat back, leisurely sipped our wine and took in the gorgeous views.
